Hunting the Scalar Glueball: Prospects for BES III
The search for the ground state scalar glueball G0 is reviewed. Spin zero glueballs will have unique dynamical properties if the < G0|qq > amplitude is suppressed by chiral symmetry, as it is to all orders in perturbation theory: for instance, mixing of G0 with qq mesons would be suppressed, radiative Ψ decay would be a filter for new physics in the spin zero channel, and the decay G0 → KK coul...
متن کاملSearch for Glueballs from Three-body Annihilation of p̄p in-Flight
For the 0 glueball ground state, lattice QCD predicts its mass to be 1.45 ∼ 1.8GeV/c [1]. For a glueball in such a mass range to be produced from pp̄ annihilation, it can only come from the “production” mechanism. Indeed, by studying pp̄ → 3π & πηη, Crystal Barrel Collaboration[2] discovered the f0(1500) resonance which is now regarded as the best 0 glueball candidate[3]. There is also some new e...
متن کاملGlueball decay patterns in top-down holographic QCD
We discuss our results on scalar glueball decay in the top-down holographic Witten-SakaiSugimoto model for low-energy QCD and compare with available experimental data, which appear to disfavor the glueball candidate f0(1500) but seem to be perfectly consistent with interpreting f0(1710) as a nearly unmixed glueball. The holographic model moreover makes definite predictions for future experiments.

FROM THE CRYSTAL BARREL EXPERIMENT Curtis A. Meyer Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, PA 15213 The Crystal Barrel Collaboration ABSTRACT Recent observations by the Crystal Barrel experiment of two scalar resonances, f0(1365) and a0(1450) have allowed us to clarify the members of the scalar nonet. In addition, a third scalar, f0(1500), appears to be supernumerary, and is a candidate for the...
متن کاملRadiative Decay of Υ into a
We study the radiative decay of Υ into a scalar glueball Υ → γGs using QCD factorization. We find that for this process the non-perturbative effects can be factorized into a matrix element defined in non-relativistic QCD which can be determined from leptonic decay of Υ, and into the gluon parton distribution amplitude, whose asymptotic form is known up to a normalization constant. Normalizing t...
